The tradition in Sarteano lives on every day. It lives in the daily life of its inhabitants; it lives in a craftsmanship that perpetuates the ancient knowledge; it lives in the vestiges, all beautifully preserved; it lives in the severe, but at the same time welcoming, profile of its old town, which wraps the hill until it culminates in the massive castle, visible from miles and miles away.

And it lives in the famous Giostra del Saracino, which has been going on uninterruptedly for centuries, and for its longevity it is placed in front of other knightly tensions, perhaps more famous but certainly much less participated by the population.

Sarteano has very ancient roots; the Etruscans were at home and the necropolis of Pianacce continues to offer exceptional emotions and discoveries. Like the Tomb of the Quadriga Infernale, which has had the well-deserved honour of the first page on magazines all over the world. The Tomb, with the left scene of the demon Charun, with its feral tusks and wild red foliage, can be visited by appointment; but a perfect reconstruction of it, made with avant-garde techniques, can be seen inside the Civic Museum, together with other no less precious finds. All around, the most beautiful nature of the Tuscan valleys.
