Sarteano and the Tuscan landscape: the origin of our extra virgin olive oil
Frantoio Tistarelli is located in Sarteano, in the heart of the Colline Senesi, one of the most fascinating areas of southern Tuscany.
This unique territory, set between the Valdichiana and the Val d’Orcia – recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site – is where nature, history, and tradition come together to create the ideal conditions for producing high-quality extra virgin olive oil.
A land naturally suited to olive growing
The climate, altitude, and soil composition make this area particularly suitable for olive cultivation.
The olive groves surrounding Sarteano, exposed to the sun and set within an authentic landscape, allow us to obtain healthy olives rich in aromatic characteristics, essential for producing a balanced, intense, and distinctive extra virgin olive oil.
This is where our work begins, every day.
The village of Sarteano
Sarteano is dominated by the imposing presence of its castle, built around the 11th century, visible from afar and framed by the green slopes of Mount Cetona.
Around the castle, the village unfolds in a semicircular layout, preserving its medieval structure of narrow streets, hidden corners, and authentic atmospheres that reflect the history and identity of this part of Tuscany.
Nature, olive groves and landscape
This territory offers many opportunities to experience nature firsthand.
From walks near the village center to the surrounding hills, rich in olive groves, visitors can immerse themselves in an unspoiled landscape where olive cultivation is an integral part of local culture.
For us at Frantoio Tistarelli, this is not just a place: it is the origin of every drop of our oil.
How to reach the mill
Reaching Sarteano is simple.
From the A1 Rome–Florence highway, take the Chiusi-Chianciano Terme exit and follow the signs to Sarteano, driving through a typical Tuscan landscape of olive groves and rolling hills.
Frantoio Tistarelli is located just a few minutes from the town center and is easily accessible for visits and tastings.
